The reflective collar is visible from a long distance. The person and driver become aware that there is a dog on the road so that they can slow down the vehicle to prevent the road accident. The reflective collar helps the dog to shine brightly. The material used in reflective collar easily picks up car headlights, streetlights and any other lighting. A reflective collar helps the dog to avoid a deadly car crash and painful accident.

At night, vehicles are not able to see the dogs on road due to dim street lighting. The driver notices the dog on the road because the reflective collar shines when the headlight is directed at the dog, minimizing the chance of an accident at night. So it does not get damaged in the rain. But the nylon webbing is not waterproof, but it quickly gets dry, leading to no chance of fungal infection. It can resist extreme rain that's why it stays undamaged.

The reflective collar is skin-friendly and does not harm the neck of the dog. For stray dogs, the street is their home. They bark and scare children, sometimes bite and disrupt morning walkers. They generally sit or sleep in the middle of the street carelessly, causing accidents.

Across India, the government have tried and could not keep their numbers in check. The Supreme Court has instructed the State governments not to kill stray dogs to keep their numbers down. Instead, they must sterilize and give them disease-preventing treatment and vaccinate the dogs.
