What food make dogs sick?

There are lots of human foods your dog should never eat. And it's not just because of weight gain. Some foods are completely dangerous for dogs. If it contains the sweetener xylitol, it can cause some problems for your dog.

If you have grown green fruits in your garden then keep your dog away from the plant.

Alcohol

Alcohol found in drinks, syrups, and raw bread dough can be poisonous to dogs, these products contain ethanol. Xylitol is a fake sweetener found in foods like sugarless gum, sugar-free candy and (cakes, cookies, etc.). It is founded in toothpaste, mouthwash, chewable vitamins, and cough drops.

Onions & Garlic

Eating can cause a life-threatening drop in your dog's blood sugar, as well as liver damage. Onions and garlic contain compounds that can cause gastroenteritis, a blood disorder that causes weakness and damage to the red blood cells.

Grapes & Raisins

Vomiting, feelings of being tired, and diarrhea can happen within 12 hours of eating, can lead to dehydration, decreased appetite, and increased urination. Grapes and raisins are connected with kidney failure in dogs.

Caffeine

Caffeine is present in some cold medicines and pain killers. Caffeine, coffee, tea, even beans, and groundnuts could be dangerous for your dog. Also keep your dog away from cocoa, chocolate, colas, and energy drinks.

Dairy Products

Milk and milk-based products cause diarrhea and other digestive problems for your pup. They may also boost food allergies which cause itchiness.

Nuts

Keep your dog away from eating nuts. Just a few raw or roasted nuts can make your dog sick. Signs of sickness could be muscle shakes, vomiting, high temperature, and weakness in their back legs. Eating chocolate with the nuts would make symptoms worse.

Chocolate

Chocolates are harmful to dogs because it contains bromine. It is present in all types of chocolate, even in white chocolate. The most dangerous types are dark chocolate and unsweetened baking chocolate.

Chocolate may cause vomiting and diarrhea to the dog. It may also cause heart problems, shaking, seizures and death.

Bones

Peaches, and Plums

The problem with these fruits is their seeds or pits. Seeds cause problems in the small intestine of dogs. They can also block their intestine completely.

It also happens if a dog eats the pit from a peach or plum. Peach and plum pits also have cyanide, which is poisonous to human beings and dogs.

Eggs

Some people feed their dogs' uncooked eggs. But the veterinary medical associations don't think that's good and healthy for dogs. There is a chance of food poisoning.

Raw Meat and Fish

Like raw eggs, raw meat and fish can have bacteria that cause food poisoning. Some fishes such as salmon, trout, sad, or sturgeon can also have a parasite that causes "fish disease" or "salmon poisoning disease".

It's treatable but needs help right away. The first signs are vomiting, fever, and big lymph nodes. It is advised to fully cook the fish to kill the parasite.

Salt

Yeast Dough

Before it is baked, bread dough needs to rise. That is exactly what happens in your dog's stomach if they eat it. As it swells inside, the dough can stretch your dog's abdomen and cause lots of pain.

Human Medicine

Human medicine cannot be given to the dog. It can make them sick. Just keep all medicines out of your dog's reach. Never give your dog such types of medicine unless your vet recommends it.

Dog vomiting is a sudden change in diet, through searching missing things, human leftovers food, or eating too much or too quickly. Other reasons for a dog being sick include infection, worms, and eating foreign bodies such as socks or toys, swallowing or licking flowers.

Dogs tend to drop saliva, lick their lips, and swallow too much when they feel nauseous. Some dogs may eat grass, possibly to relieve the stomach-related problem.

Consult your vet and take suggestions about quality dog food. Make sure your dog has a healthy, well-balanced diet. But that does not mean you cannot give human foods as a special treat to your dog. But only give them a little. Be sure that the foods are properly cooked, pure, and not too oily or heavily seasoned.
