Coronavirus in Dogs and pets and their symptoms

Cats can catch flu from humans and some have caught the Covid-19 virus. And this has been proofed by laboratory evidence. There have also been isolated cases of dogs testing positive for the virus, in Hong Kong.

Veterinary scientists have recommended cat owners keep their pets indoors to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus among animals. To concerned pet-owners is to take the precautions of keeping cats indoors only if someone in their household showed signs of sickness.

Every pet owner should practice good hygiene and should keep their hands clean. An animal's fur could carry the virus if the pet has come in contact with someone who was sick.

Treat pets like other house members in your family. So if you are feeling sick, it's better not to interact with them. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) spread from person to person, it can also spread from people to animals.

COVID-19 is a type of coronavirus. Coronavirus is a family of viruses. Some cause cold-like sickness in human being and other causes illness in animals, such as a bat. Some viruses infect only animals. COVID-19 is believed to have started in an animal, spread to humans and then spread among people.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a few pets including cats and dogs also can be infected with the virus that causes COVID-19. This happened mostly after the animals came in close contact with people which infected with the COVID-19 virus.

The risk of animals spreading the COVID-19 virus to people is carefully studied. No evidence proves that viruses can spread to people or other animals from a pet's skin, fur or hair. Animals do not appear in spreading the virus that causes COVID-19.

Young children, people with a weak immune system, and people of 65 yrs. of age or more likely to get sick from other germs that animals can carry. To protect the pet from the COVID-19 virus, do not let the dog or cat interact with people or animals outside the household.
